3.3.5.1.3 General requirements. All targets shall be punched with the letters TARGET entered in columns 3-8. All rejected aperture cards shall be removed from the submittal by the contractor before shipping.
3.3.5.1.4 Punching and interpreting instructions for accompanying documents. Apply the following instructions to all documents that require supplementary sheet number identification. The documents include but are not limited to all accompanying documents (amendments, addenda, etc.) and all documents containing divisions (volumes, sections, etc.) that are sheet number sequenced by division rather than continuous numbering throughout the entire document. The punching instructions for the sheet number field (cc 23-25) and the supplementary sheet number field (cc 35-45) are as follows:
a. Card columns 23-24 shall remain blank. An asterisk (*) shall be entered in cc 25 and interpreted in print position 24 to indicate that the sheet number has been moved to the supplementary sheet number field, cc 35-45.
b. When the supplementary sheet number field is used to identify accompanying documents, it is segmented into three elements.
(1) A two character abbreviation used to indicate the type of document being identified is entered in cc 35-36. (See example below).
(2) Card columns 37-38 are used to identify the sequence number of the document. If the sequence number is a single digit, place the number in cc
38 and enter a nonsignificant zero in cc 37.
(3) A decimal point shall be entered in cc 39 and the page number of the document shall be entered in cc 40-45. The page number shall be left justified.
